When H.M. Queen Elizabeth II decided to go onto Facebook Tim and I decided it would be prudent for us to Blog off, so here we go
Where are we?
We are adjacent to the top gate to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.
Who are we? Tim is originally from Jersey in the Channel Islands and came to live in South Africa in 1963. He was educated in England and qualified there as a Chartered Accountant.
His interests are Rugby, rugby, rugby. He says he ‘got over being a chartered accountant’ many years ago. He started his career in London at Pannel, Fitzpatrick & Co. and then joined Deloittes in Cape Town and is currently Director for RUPES S.p.A. responsible for all of their activities in Sub-Saharan Africa.
In addition to this he plays a sterling role in the running of the guesthouse.
He has a son and a daughter and 4 grand children. Sadly, his elder daughter died on Mauritius where she lived leaving a 4 month old baby daughter who is now a beautiful young lady aged 15.
Nicki (nee Joubert) was born in Cape Town and attended school there. She worked as a PRO in the hotel industry and then after 18 years in the hospitality sector took up a position as PRO for City Park Hospital (now called Christian Barnard Hospital).
Her passions are the mountain, the garden, our Border Collie and 2 dachshunds.
She has 3 sons and they share a common love of the land. One farms in Bedford, the other in Darling and the third in Hopefield. Between them they have 6 daughters and 1 son.
Initially, some 17 years ago, when Nicki suggested opening a Guest House Tim was mortified.
Today, both he and she share a love of hosting new friends from all corners of the earth.
Ida is our right and left hand. She is from Darling and previously single handedly ran a Friesland Dairy. Currently she is studying Consumer Science and playing a vital role running the guesthouses.
Our loyal wonderful staff comprising Sina, Norman and Patti make up the rest of the team and between them have worked for us for nearly 90 years.
